After spending a couple of afternoons contemplating what my first blog should be, I decided to simply begin. They say that once you choose to act, everything else starts to flow.
So, chalo.
As a child, I loved to dance. I loved picking out my own clothes. I loved jewellery especially this almost obsessive desire to own as many cute rings as possible; this love for rings also comes from my Aai, haan. And I absolutely loved dupattas.
When Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam released, I remember being completely taken in by the iconic “chaand chupa dupatta” a delicate net dupatta with mukaish work. I would dress up like Aishwarya Rai, imagining I was in a film scene, running down the staircase with my dupatta sweeping across the building floors almost like I was actively campaigning for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. I would stop dramatically and say, “Deva.”
Yes, I was dramatic. And I loved cinema.
I even participated in a dance competition, performing to “Nimbooda Nimbooda” from the same film and won first prize. I loved being on stage. But somewhere along the way, this part of me was not taken seriously. My father wanted me to focus on academics and did not like all of this “show sha” is what he used to call it.
Cut to: studying Political Science at Fergusson College, Pune; preparing for the UPSC examinations from Class 12; pursuing a Master’s in International Relations at the University of Leeds, England; interning at The Indian Express and with government think tanks; working in political PR and eventually starting my own marketing agency, Ploti.
And now, finally, living my dream; Sinhi.
My love for jewellery, dressing up, storytelling, visuals and even the music that plays in my head with every post it all comes together here. In a way, every piece, every story is like sharing my personal radio with you.
We’re now online for you so you can access us not just from India, but from anywhere in the world.
Bringing my world to you.
Happy immersing and happy shopping.
